William E Boucher Jr was a Baltimore musical instrument and drum maker. In the 1840’s his workshop was the first to produce banjos in substantial quantities. Nearly 200 years later his design is still sought after. Details like the headstock shaped as a violin peghead and the single or double ogee along the top of the neck exemplify his excellent and inventive craftsmanship.
